Following a successful pre-registration effort the next focus for Angel Run organizers is to ensure there are plenty of volunteers to run a smooth event for 1,100-plus participants. Many hands are needed to bag and deliver 1,100 T-shirts, hand out those famous bells for runners’ sneakers, bake goodies to fill the tables of the post-race party and still more helpers to assist with decorating, direct traffic and parking details. It takes a village to run this road race and Medfield always comes through to help where help is needed.

Are you a baker? Did you always want the early word on the color of the famous Angel Run T-shirt? Maybe you are great with people and directions. The Angel Run planning committee relies on many volunteers to make the annual event a success. Jobs large and small still need filling. Even those registered to run will find a volunteer role that won’t conflict with the race. In many cases time commitments are short, an hour or two at most. Willing volunteers can go to the Angel Run master sign up form on the MedfieldFoundation.org website to choose the perfect assignment. The sign up link which details all volunteer needs can be found on the Angel Run page within the Medfield Foundation website.

“We have a great party planned in the Blake cafeteria immediately following the race. Come gather with the Medfield community at its very finest! Bake for the cause if running isn’t your pastime. If you’re interested in donating a baked good for this gathering, use the sign up form on the Medfield Foundation website,” said Michelle Barrette, post-race party co-chair.

The MFi Angel Run is pleased to be working again this year with presenting sponsor Needham Bank. Additionally, many local businesses have made generous sponsorship contributions of financial support and in-kind donations to the 2014 Angel Run campaign.

“I am so pleased with the degree of support our local businesses and residents have offered. We still have needs to be met to pull the event off and I hope to see the volunteer roles get filled. This is truly a group effort and all of the contributions of time, money and talent really make the annual Angel Run a great day for Medfield,” said race co-chair Susan Weisenfeld.

In keeping with the Medfield Foundation mission of “Building a Stronger Medfield” proceeds from the race are used to assist local families in need. Registration for the 5k continues up until race day on Sunday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. from the new starting location at Medfield High School.
