Update: 2-Alarm Fire Reported in South Medford

Fire broke out at about 2 p.m.

Firefighters from Medford and Somerville battled a 2-alarm fire earlier today at a house in South Medford.

The house, which holds both the 52 and 54 Dartmouth Street addresses, had its rear porch fully engulfed with flames when firefighters arrived, said Medford Deputy Fire Chief Scott Graham. He added no one was inside at the time of the fire.

The deputy also said that the cause of the fire is under investigation, and that whether the building is totalled is not known yet, but there is extensive water and smoke damage, especially on the upper two units. The fire seemed to be concentrated on the rear of the building.
