Brookline Bank Donates $20,000 to the Boys and Girls Club
The Bank's matching grant helped raise over $40,000 for Medford youth

Medford, MA - Brookline Bank is supporting local youth through a very generous $20,000 matching grant to the Boys & Girls Club of Medford to support its Medford Membership Campaign. Supporters of the Club including the Friends of Chevalier Auditorium and Gene Mack Gymnasium, Century Bank, the Mystic Valley Area Chapter of the NAACP, and dozens of individual and family donors gave $20,000 during the month of September to successfully meet this matching opportunity.
“The Medford Club serves over 150 youth ages 7 to 18 in our afterschool program alone each school year. We need the community’s help today more than ever, and we are so grateful to our longtime partner, Brookline Bank, and for our community of donors for stepping up in our time of need with such generous commitments of support”, says Lindsay Smythe, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Medford. The Club’s afterschool members are over 95% Medford residents and are primarily low-income youth whose families rely on this vital service. All youth attend the Medford Club for only $30 per school year as part of its mission to serve the kids who need it most. The program relies on the generosity of individuals, businesses like Brookline Bank, and organizations in the Medford community and beyond to support the $2,000 true cost per child.
“Brookline Bank’s relationship with the Medford community is a deep one,” said Senior Vice President of Brookline Bank, Wes Blair. “We are more than happy to give back by assisting the great work that the Boys & Girls Club does in Medford.”
