Last week, staff from Medford’s Schools, Recreation Department, Parks Maintenance Division, Commission for Persons with Disabilities, and Department of Planning, Development and Sustainability received training to formally audit our playgrounds for ADA compliance and accessibility.

They looked at a typical “older” playground and our newest playground at Harris Park as part of their training. This will allow staff to recognize where change is needed, to understand why some of our playgrounds are designed as they are when doing maintenance and repairs and what to watch for when re-designing our parks for renovations.
