Crate training is one of best things you can do for your dog's quality of life. Having trouble crate training your dog? I can help.

Folks often ask me whether they need to crate-train their puppies or newly adopted dogs. I say, “Yes!! Crate training is one of best things you can do for your dog’s quality of life.”

A crate is never a place of punishment: it will become his sleeping place, a retreat when visitors come over, and his refuge from the tumult of the household.

You can’t just push your dog in the crate and expect him to adjust. Confession: 25 years ago, on the advice of a know-it-all friend, I did exactly this with my dog Patsy — who would never go into a crate again.
