MA Weather: Flash Flood Warning Issued

The NWS is calling for hazardous weather in much of the northeastern part of the state.

A flash flood warning has been issued for much of northeastern Massachusetts, according to the National Weather Service. The agency's latest forecasts have the warning stretching from Worcester to Boston and as far north as the New Hampshire border. The South Shore and the Cape are largely expected to be spared from heavy rainfall.

The warning will be in effect until 2:15 p.m. Tuesday. It could impact over 3.8 million people, 883 schools and 84 hospitals, the NWS said. A previous warning was issued for central Massachusetts.

A special marine warning is also in effect for Boston Harbor, waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary until 12:15 p.m. The warning was issued after thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts were seen from Marblehead to Quincy Harbor.
