Medford Alum Breaks Bridgewater State University Record
Junior center Destiny Fitzgerald, a former Mustang, set a women's basketball record for points in a game.
MEDFORD, MA — Former Mustang Destiny Fitzgerald set a Bridgewater State University record in the Owls' loss to Westfield State University Jan. 18. Fitzgerald, a junior center for the Owls, had 43 points, going 20 for 30 shooting with 17 rebounds, according to the Enterprise.
The previous record was 38 points, set by Jennie Lindland against Westfield State in 2017.
Bridgewater State fell to Westfield State 111-108, setting an NCAA Division 3 record for points scored in a non-overtime loss by a women's basketball team. The record for points in a regulation loss was previously 102, set by Salisbury University in 1997.

Fitzgerald was named to the weekly honor roll in both the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference and the New England Women’s Basketball Association, the Enterprise reported.
