Medford Chicken & Rice Guys Closes After 'Severe' Flooding
The Boston-area chain said it will not reopen its Medford Square location after a burst pipe flooded the restaurant in late December.
MEDFORD, MA — Bad news for Medford fans of The Chicken & Rice Guys: the business is shutting down its Salem Street location. The Boston-area chain said the space suffered extensive damage from flooding late last month. According to Boston Restaurant Talk, which first reported news of the closure, the flooding was caused by a burst pipe.
"The flooding that damaged the building on Dec 22nd was so severe that it doesn't make sense for us to return to the location, and instead use our resources to expand the business in other ways," according to a post on restaurant's Facebook page. "We are currently looking for possible new spaces, and will keep you all updated on any new openings."
The Medford Square restaurant was The Chicken & Rice Guys's first brick-and-mortar location, opening in September 2015. Since then, the business has expanded to include two locations and one in Houston, TX.
