Medford Coffee Shop Fire Sparked By Roasting Machinery

Mystic Coffee Roaster will be closed for the rest of the week as it assesses the damage from a "wee fire" in its roaster.

MEDFORD, MA — A fire at a Medford Square coffee shop started in the coffee roaster, the Medford firefighters' union said.

The blaze at Mystic Coffee Roaster was contained to the roasting equipment and quickly brought under control Wednesday afternoon, the union said. No injuries were reported.

The shop will not take any more orders for the rest of the week as it assesses the damage from the "wee fire," according to a statement on the business's website. Mystic Coffee Roaster has been operating as a wholesaler since it closed its café amid pandemic struggles.
