Medford Examining Possibility Of First Brewery
Officials are looking at bringing a potential brewery to the city as Medford Brewing Company continues its crowdfunding campaign.
MEDFORD, MA — City officials will hold a public forum next week on potential breweries in Medford. The meeting will tackle zoning and current liquor license regulations, as well as offer residents the chance to ask questions or express support or concerns.
The meeting comes as Medford Brewing Company looks at opening the city's first brewery. The company, which has been contract brewing over the last couple years, launched a crowdfunding campaign in late February seeking investors for its own brewery.
The Wefunder campaign has raised over $200,000 in three months. It would fund one of two options – a large operation in West Medford or a scaled-down location in Medford Square – based on how much money is raised, co-founder Nick Bolitho told Eater.

A brewery would save the company money on beer production while allowing it to host local fans at its taproom.
The public forum will be held Wednesday, May 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the Alden Memorial Chambers at Medford City Hall. Staff from the Building, Health and Police Department and licensing commissioners will be in attendance.
