Medford Kiwanis brings Santa, Gifts & Magic to Medford
Medford comes together for Medford children.
As that famed letter goes… “Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus, He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist”…. that holiday magic is brightly shining over Medford today thanks to the service work of the dedicated members of The Medford Kiwanis Club.
The Medford Kiwanis Club in partnership with Century Bank once again erected a brightly lit Christmas Tree in Medford Square, dedicated to the hopes and dreams of the children of Medford. Our youngsters are having alot more than sugar plum dreams, as that Christmas Tree would evolve and bear fruit this year in the form of more than 700 gifts for children in need in Medford. The Wishing Tree Project attracted 200 community members granting wishes for Medford children. Members of the community made a wish for a Medford child in need and others would sign up to play Santa and grant wishes or make a monetary donation to the project. The children’s wishes would range from coats, to scooters and basket balls, to that hot toy of the year that otherwise would not have found its way to them. Santa’s and Kiwanians worked diligently granting every wish.
For more than 20 years, the Medford Kiwanis Club members have been making a personal donation to Globe Santa, this year donating $5000. Last year Globe Santa attended the tree lighting, this year Santa came to the neighborhoods on Engine 1 of the Medford Fire Department. Children excitedly waited along the 5 mile route on their porches, in their windows or on the sidewalk with family for their glimpse of Santa Claus as he drove by. They shouted with glee and rang their jingle bells through the air.

The Medford Chamber of Commerce also made a donation of restaurant gifts cards to each recipient. 2020 was the toughest year for philanthropic organizations, however the committed members of The Medford Kiwanis Club have shown that where there is a will, there is a way.
