Medford Man Allegedly Wields Knife in Road-Rage Incident
An off-duty police officer intervened and most likely saved the alleged victim from injury, according to police.

A Medford man allegedly threatened another driver with a knife during a road rage incident Monday afternoon in Malden.
Derek M. Mozuch, 24, of 68 Fells Ave., was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, a marked lanes violation and threatening to commit a crime.
Off-duty Malden Police Officer Rob Selfridge saw Mozuch chasing another motorist with a knife at about 12:45 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Highland Avenue and Charles Street, according to Malden Police Lt. Det. Marc Gatcomb.

After Selfridge identified himself as a police officer, Mozuch got into his vehicle and fled the scene, Gatcomb said. He was arrested later Monday in Woburn.
"By quickly intervening and activating himself, Officer Selfridge most likely prevented injury to the victim and assisted with compiling and disseminating a quick and accurate description to help locate the suspect," Gatcomb wrote.
