Medford Man Assaulted, Yelled Racial Epithets at MBTA Officers, Employees
The 23-year-old man allegedly yelled racial epithets at MBTA employees and assaulted an officer.

MEDFORD, MA - A Medford man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after he yelled racial epithets at MBTA employees and assaulted an officer, police said.
Xavier Galatis, 23, allegedly evaded his fare and was confronted by an MBTA employee when he became violent and threatened to kill the employee, police said. Galatis also shouted racial epithets at and threatened MBTA officers, police said.
"Officers attempted to place Galatis into custody and he violently resisted striking the officer in the torso area. After a lengthy struggle Galatis was subdued and taken into custody," according to an MBTA police statement.

It is expected Galatis will be arraigned sometime today in Cambridge District Court, police said. Galatis was arrested and charged with assault and battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
