Medford Man Charged With Drunken Driving In Somerville

Alan Kelly, 44, was arrested after driving into two parked cars on Springfield Street, police said.

SOMERVILLE, MA — A Medford man who drove into two parked cars in Somerville last week had been drinking before the crash, police said. Alan Kelly, 44, was charged with operating under the influence of liquor and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

Officers were called to Springfield Street Tuesday, Nov. 17 and found Kelly's black Ford F250 near a black GMC Sierra and white Chevy Silverado with damage to their driver's sides, police said. Kelly told officers he had swerved to miss an oncoming car and crashed into two cars parked on the road, the police report stated.

Kelly smelled like alcohol and had red, glassy eyes and slurred speech, police said. He told officers he had two drinks while working in Cambridge but refused to take a sobriety test or breathalyzer, according to the police report.
