Medford Mayor Announces Pilot Program for Tufts Pool

Mayor Stephanie M. Burke announced a pilot program for the Tufts Pool facility.

MEDFORD, MA - Today Mayor Stephanie M. Burke announced a pilot program for the Tufts Pool facility.

Beginning July 27, the wading pool within Tufts Pool will remain open until 7 p.m. between Monday and Thursday. This new closing time is two hours later than the previously posted closing time of 5 p.m. This program and the new hours will be the policy at Tufts Pool for the remainder of the 2016 season, a release said.
The purpose of this program is to help measure public demand for increased access to this feature of the pool. Demand will be measured by a count provided by lifeguards on duty to the supervisors of the facility and recreation officials, according to a release.
"This is part of the Mayor’s continuing efforts to balance the ability to provide great services for the citizens of Medford with safety and budgetary requirements," a release said. "In part due to the new extended hours, the period for selling pool passes will be extended one week to August 3, 2016."
