Medford Native Takes The Reins At Colleen's
Kolin Burgoyne worked at the iconic ice cream and sandwich shop as a teenager before leaving to become a chef.

MEDFORD, MA – A familiar face has returned to Colleen's Ice Cream & Sandwich Shoppe, and this time he runs the place. Kolin Burgoyne, who worked at Colleen's from age 14 until he embarked on a career as a chef at age 21, now owns the iconic Medford Square restaurant.
Burgoyne returned to his hometown following the death of owner Colleen Hallisey last year to ensure Colleen's remained a locally owned neighborhood restaurant.
"I’m committed to instilling in my staff the same values of hard work and community that Colleen believed in," Burgoyne said. "As a chef, it’s important to me that our food is made from scratch as much as possible and freshly prepared using quality ingredients."

Originally a Brigham's Ice Cream restaurant, Hallisey rebranded the shop after a falling out with ownership in the late 1990s, according to the Medford Transcript. She ran the shop for 30 years before her passing in 2018 at age 52.
Colleen's will host a grand re-opening celebration in early spring. The restaurant is open daily from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. and offers catering and a semi-private space for community events, pop-ups and parties.
