Medford Police Save Life of Overdose Victim
Officers equipped with Narcan rescued a man who had overdosed on heroin while behind the wheel of a truck.

Medford Police officers, equipped with Narcan, were able to save the life of a man who overdosed on heroin last week, according to a press release.
On the afternoon of Oct. 24, police were called to Ninth Street for a report of a truck that crashed into a parked car on the opposite side of the road near Kappy’s Liquors. According to police, officers found an unresponsive man inside the truck, which was still running.
Police said the driver was “unconscious and unresponsive,” and showed symptoms of an opioate overdose. After discovering a small bag of what was believed to be heroin, officers used Narcan on the victim, successfully reversing the effects of the overdose.

The driver was taken to a local hospital for additional treatment. Police said no one suffered injuries during the accident.
The unidentified man was subsequently charged with driving while on drugs, among other motor vehicle infractions.
