Medford Scraps Local Vaccine Clinics For Now

MEDFORD, MA — There will be no Medford-specific COVID-19 vaccine clinics in the near future, Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn said Wednesday.

The state is prioritizing regional sites and pharmacies and has not made additional vaccines available for individual communities. This has left Medford with not enough doses to hold a local clinic, Lungo-Koehn said.

Meanwhile, people 65 and older and individuals with two or more comorbidities are eligible for the vaccine starting Thursday. Eligible Medford residents are encouraged to visit vaxfinder.mass.gov to find the closest pharmacy or mass vaccination site.

Medford also has a team of staff and volunteers who can assist with registration for vaccine appointments. This resource is available only to those without a computer or access to the internet. If you have general questions about COVID-19 or about the vaccine, you can call the city's Multilingual Resource Line at 781-475-5644 and leave a message to receive a call back.

"Vaccine availability continues to be limited but we are working hard here in Medford to do all we can to make appointments available, and to provide transportation or other support as much as possible," Lungo-Koehn said. "We continue to experience high call volume, but please know that your call will be returned as soon as possible."
