Medford Student Wins New England Writing Contest

MHS Junior Abdi Osman's non-fiction piece stood out from over 100 pieces of writings submitted from students all over New England.

MEDFORD, MA - A Medford High School junior won first place in a New England-wide writing contest.

Abdi Osman won first place at the New England Association of Teachers of English Writing Contest with his essay, "My Bliss." His non-fiction piece stood out from over 100 pieces of writings submitted from students all over New England. According to NEATE President Lynn Leschke, "The review board was particularly impressed with Abdi's use of empathetic language which clearly showcased who he and his family are.”

Osman won $50 and his original piece will be published in The Leaflet, NAETE's publication, and it'll be announced and published in various NEATE forums.
