Medford Students Participate In History Day
Earlier this week, Medford High School and Medford Vocational Technical High School celebrated the second History Day showcase event.
MEDFORD, MA - Earlier this week, Medford High School and Medford Vocational Technical High School celebrated the second History Day showcase event. Similiar to the Annual Science Fair, this event featured outstanding student work in the field of history, a release said. Their projects were on display for students, families, teachers, administrators, community members and staff, a release said.
Students presented their individual research projects in a range of forms including documentaries, exhibits, papers, and websites. Some of the exhibits included: Buddhism, the occupation of Japan, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Declaration of Independence, the history of photography, Chinese Opera and Joan of Arc. There was a documentary on the development of the Polio Vaccine, and there were websites discussing: Pythagoras, The Harlem Renaissance, Franz Schubert, The Smallpox Epidemic, and The Legacy of the Aborigines.
Superintendent Roy Belson, Nicole Chiesa, Director, English Language Arts & Social Studies, Lead Teacher Nick Kain, and School Committee Member Kathy Kreatz were among those who attended this History Day event. In a release the Social Studies Department thanked all of the students for their diligent and exciting work.
