Melrose Flag to Fly at Half Staff in Honor of Orlando Mass Shooting Victims

The American flag at City Hall will fly at half staff this week as Melrose pays respect to the victims of the mass shooting in Orlando.

MELROSE, MA - The American flag at City Hall will fly at half staff this week as Melrose pays respect to the victims in Saturday's mass shooting in Orlando.

"As a mark of respect for the victims of the act of hatred and terror perpetrated on Sunday, June 12 in Orlando, FL, and as ordered by Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, the flag at City Hall will fly at half staff today through sunset on June 16," said a statement from the city.

"As a community that has long prided itself on its openness to all people, we vehemently condemn this hateful act," the statement from the city said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families."
