Retired Medford Firefighter Richard Wilson Passes Away
Wilson died July 22 after a 20-month battle with lung cancer. He was 71 years old.
MEDFORD, MA — Retired Medford firefighter Richard Wilson passed away July 22 after a 20-month battle with lung cancer, the Medford firefighters' union announced over the weekend. He was 71 years old.
Wilson was a U.S. Army veteran who served two tours of duty in Vietnam, according to his obituary. Upon returning to the States, he worked as an industrial painter before starting his career as a Medford firefighter.
Wilson is survived by his wife, Ann, daughters Michelle and Julie, brother, David, and sister, Janet McGonagle. He also leaves his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Paula and Mike Sheppard.

"Richie was a true family man, and his time off was spent dropping off and picking up his girls from school, dance classes, and Girl Scout meetings, as well as renovating his home, which he shared with his wife of thirty-eight years, Ann (Tammaro) Wilson," his obituary reads. "He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father and friend and an inspiration to many."
Visitation was held Monday at Solimine Funeral Home in Lynn.
