Suffolk Police Sgt., Medford Resident John Previti Passes Away
Previti, a "consummate leader and a tenacious investigator," died following a six-year battle with cancer.

MEDFORD, MA — A Medford resident and member of the Suffolk University Police Department has passed away following a six-year battle with cancer. Suffolk Police announced the death of Sgt. John Previti on Monday.
Previti, an alumnus of Medford High School and Suffolk University, began his career as a security officer at Suffolk. He was promoted to a patrol officer in 2005 and graduated from the Massachusetts Special Police Officer Academy.
Previti rose through the department ranks, becoming a sergeant in 2008. He received an Outstanding Personal Contribution Award from the Massachusetts Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators in 2016.

"Sgt. Previti was a consummate leader and a tenacious investigator who assisted countless numbers of students, faculty, and staff throughout his career," the Suffolk Police said in a statement. "He was compassionate and committed to the mission of the Department and to the University. The Department is a better organization because of Sgt. Previti’s leadership, dedication, and professionalism. Our thoughts are with the Previti Family, and to all who knew and loved him."
