Suspect In Alleged Medford Uber Assault Apologizes
"I messed up," the 33-year-old said.

SOMERVILLE — A 33-year-old Lynn man apologized outside Somerville District Court on Monday for allegedly assaulting an Uber driver in Medford early Saturday morning and stealing his car.
“I apologize. That’s all I can say,” Nicholas Fabrizio told CBS News/Boston. “It shouldn’t be a big deal, but it is. I messed up,” Fabrizio said.
Fabrizio posted $1,000 cash after pleading not guilty to charges of assault and battery and carjacking in connection with the March 11 incident. As a condition of his release, he is to stay away and have no contact with the alleged victim.

Uber driver Pierre Francois told Medford police he picked up four passengers in Boston around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, but told them to get out on Salem Street when they became unruly.
That’s when Fabrizio allegedly attacked Francois and took off with his car. The car was later recovered in Malden.

The victim said he sustained several injuries in the attack, including pain in his shoulder and hand as well as a broken nose.
“It wasn’t exactly the intent of that. I have anger problems and I’m going to make sure that gets fixed,” Fabrizio said.
Fabrizio has been banned from the Uber app.
Fabrizio says after the ordeal, he tried to do the right thing by turning himself into police at 4 p.m. on Saturday. For the moment of anger, as Fabrizio called it, assault and battery and carjacking charges still stand.
Fabrizio is scheduled to be back in court on April 26.
