WATCH: LoConte Rink Dedicates Zamboni To Late Manager
The city held a dedication ceremony over the weekend in memory of John Welch, who passed away in December after battling ALS.
MEDFORD, MA – The spirit of John Welch lives on LoConte Rink. Over the weekend, the city honored the rink's late manager by dedicating its Zamboni to him.
Welch passed away in December after a battle with ALS. He was 60 years old.
In addition to helping manage facilities at the rink, Welch taught in the Somerville school system for 37 years and worked for the Boston Red Sox for over four decades, according to his obituary.
