100 FOR 100% Renewable Energy Challenge
Mayor Brodeur Challenges Melrose Residents and Businesses To Opt Up to 100% Renewable Electricity
Mayor Brodeur has issued a “100 for 100%” challenge with the goal of increasing the number of homes and businesses enrolled in Melrose Community Power’s 100% renewable energy option by 100 participants by May 1st. Enrolling in this product is the simplest way for Melrose residents and businesses to significantly reduce their greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change and to support the growth of renewable energy resources in New England, as well as help Melrose meet its commitment to be Net Zero by 2050.
Bring your National Grid electric bill to City Hall on Saturday, April 24 from 11:30am to 3:00pm or Saturday, May 1 from 11:00am to 3:00pm and volunteers will help you change your plan to the 100% renewable energy option. A table will be set up outside the Essex St. entrance to City Hall staffed with volunteers who can explain the MCP program and, if you’d like, switch your product on the spot.
Melrose Community Power, which has been in operation since 2016, is a program run by the City of Melrose that is designed to provide more trusted electricity options for residents, businesses, and other electric ratepayers in Melrose.

If you can’t make it to City Hall on either of the above dates, switching to Melrose Local Green 100% is easy to do on the MCP enrollment page at https://mcp.cityofmelrose.org/enroll/. Or call (855) 639-8058 and a representative from NextEra Energy Services (the electricity supplier for the program) will help you change your product over the phone.
