Back to School: Hoover School
Increased math instruction time, co-teaching, more technology in classrooms and the Hoover garden highlight the school's coming year.

Several new initiatives are underway at the Hoover School, according to a press release sent out by Superintendent Joe Casey:
- The daily math instructional block will be increased from 80 to 90 minutes.
- Added level of technology with nine classrooms having SmartBoard systems and an increased focus on integrating technology into the curriculum.
- Co-taught models in grades 1-5 to further support Meeting the Needs of All Learners.
- Integrating the Responsive Classroom Morning Meetings in K, 1 and 2 to assist students in their transition from home to school as well as infusing social, behavioral and academic skills to be used throughout the entire day.
- The Hoover Garden has donated approximately twenty gallons of vegetables to the Melrose Food Pantry as well as donating flowers to local nursing homes.
