Esther Grammas Remembered as Great Mom, Great Cook
96-year-old Melrose resident passes away Feb. 25.

A dedicated mother who loved to cook, Melrose's Esther R. (Pappas) Grammas passed away Feb. 25 at the age of 96. She was born Sept. 8, 1920.
Beloved wife of the late George Grammas. Devoted mother of Peter Grammas, Alexander Grammas, and his late wife Sarina, and the late Maria DiTomasso (Grammas).
She's the daughter of the late George and Ruby Pappas. Also the sister of the late Frank, Paul, Gust, and Peter Pappas, and the late Stella Pharr. Grandmother of Alex Grammas and the late Lynn Marie Grammas. Esther was a dedicated mother who loved to cook, making fresh bread every day for her family. When her children had grown, she began a new career working in the Melrose-Highlands Congregational Church as a nursery school teacher until her retirement.

A funeral service will be held at the Cota Funeral Home on 335 Park Street in North Reading on Tuesday, March 7 at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends may visit the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 p.m. Interment at Wyoming Cemetary in Melrose.
