Millenium Wrestling Federation's 10th Anniversary at Memorial Hall

On Saturday, September 17th, the Melrose-based Millennium Wrestling Federation celebrates it's 10th anniversary at Memorial Hall - 590 Main St. - Melrose, MA.  The MWF, recently named 2011 Special Olympics Partners, brings a live wrestling event, autograph & photo fanfest, charity auctions, raffles and more featuring superstars known around the world from WWE and Impact Wrestling on Spike TV.  At this historic celebration, fans will not only be able to see the stars, they can meet the superstars, including multi-time WWE Champion Carlito, the wild Boogeyman, Paul Bearer, WWE NXT winner Kaval, "The Monster" Abyss, WWE Hall of Famer "Mr. USA" Tony Atlas, the legendary Tony Garea, along with Ox Baker (who starred with Kurt Russell in "Escape From New York").  It's an interactive experience fans won't soon forget!

The local MWF has continued it's expansion in it's tenth year.  Last November, the MWF made it's debut in North Carolina, setting attendance records.  This summer, Connecticut was invaded for the first time, only to be topped by an event at the world famous TD Boston Garden in February!

"The past decade has been amazing, so many ups and downs, local talent going from our regional events to the national spotlight," said MWF co-founder Dan Mirade.  "Melrose is our home, but it's been a real challenge for us.  It took us eight years just to be able to rent Memorial Hall, which was losing tens of thousands of tax payer dollars annually, and it's felt like certain folks don't feel we belong here.  If we're good enough for the Boston Garden, we're good enough for Memorial Hall.  On September 17th, we're pulling back the curtain and inviting all of the movers and shakers in the city to our celebration - we want them to see the good we can do for a community filled with young adults that are bored with nothing to do on the weekends that has sadly led to trouble for good kids from good families.  Politicians, youth group leaders, news media, come on down!  We want them to see how much we can benefit kids in Melrose, like we have this year alone for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Special Olympics Massachusetts, Big Brothers, the American Red Cross, even a group like RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network), along with police and fire departments in the Carolina's.  The MWF is filled with caring, giving individuals, and the city should embrace our efforts, not shun them."

The "Keep The Kids Off The Streets" campaign was created in honor of the two children in Mirade's life, MWF Junior Ambassadors Brandon Jay and Devaughn Brent.  "When you get letters in the mail from the poor kids that are burn victims, or an entire Boys & Girls Club drawing pictures of the wrestlers and sending them off to us, you can't describe that feeling," he continues.  "When Brandon and Devaughn grow older, I want them to be proud of the work we've done in our first ten years and beyond.  We're not the typical 'rasslin' company, we're an action adventure movie come to life for fans ages 6 to 60.  At the same time, attending an event also benefits numerous non-profits that need a helping hand in 2011.  It's win-win for everyone."

There has been a major creative change in the MWF in recent months.  "A new chapter in our history begins September 17th," adds Mirade.  "New fans are going to have the time of their life, long time fans are going to be rewarded for their support with unexpected twists and turns that are going to put a period at the end of our first ten years and kick off our second decade with a bang!"

Even with that sense of excitement, there has been a push by MWF officials to leave Massachusetts for the Carolina's.  "Reality is reality.  When we go down to the Carolina's, the folks are so friendly and welcoming.  There's no stress, it's not a challenge to  spread the word about what we're doing - people want to help and be part of it.  I'm Melrose born, Melrose bread, someday I'll be Melrose dead. . .I'd love to see us run live events at Memorial Hall every month for the kids.  But, unfortunately, the support hasn't been there.  When you're made to feel unwelcome, it takes a lot of fun out of it.  We're optimistic that September 17th is going to be a great night that's going to leave the fans buzzing and we're grateful to be doing it in our home."

Get ready for the big night with dozens of free videos available on www.BostonWrestling.com in the TV section to catch you up on the action, and where you can also purchase VIP Packages and discounted Floor Seats through Tuesday night, September 13th.  All remaining floor and General Admission tickets will be on-sale at Memorial Hall on the 17th.  Help keep the MWF in Boston and Keep The Kids Off The Streets!!
