Events Near Me: Melrose's 4th Of July 2020
Fourth of July events are still taking place in and around Melrose.
MELROSE, MA — July 4 is quickly approaching, which means it's time to find out what Fourth of July events are going on near you this Independence Day.
Melrose doesn't usually have city-run Fourth of July fireworks and certainly won't this year. There won't be official fireworks in many nearby communities, either.
While the city announced this year people are not encouraged to gather around the Common — a tradition that has lasted for more than 50 years — the holiday spirit is still alive in Melrose.

The Bike & Carriage Parade around the Common will not be held at the Common, but rather people are encouraged to decorate their bikes, wagons, carriages, scooters, skateboards and other rides and show them off in their neighborhoods, local parks and downtown.
"As a community let's light up Melrose with all of our Independence Day spirit!" the city said.

The city still asks that people observe social distancing and wear masks.
There is still a local event to watch: Although the Boston July 4 Fireworks show was canceled, the iconic Boston Pops will still hold a musical performance online.
The event will air on Bloomberg Television, Bloomberg Radio, and Boston's WHDH-TV at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 4. Boston Pops Salute to Our Heroes will also be available to live stream at Bloomberg.com.
Due to the pandemic, counties or cities may adjust or cancel events at the last minute. Check your event before you go. Know of other events in the area? Post them on the Patch calendar or share details on our free Neighbor Post feature.
