Gately Generosity To Veterans’ Cause Continues Through Pandemic
Each year John Gately organizes a fundraiser to benefit the Veterans' Relief Fund in Melrose. The pandemic will change it, but not stop it.

The following was submitted by the city's Veterans’ Services:
Each year John Gately organizes and runs a fundraiser to benefit the Veterans’ Relief Fund in Melrose. This annual event has always been a wonderful evening of laughter, good food, and fun, in recognition of our veterans. Although we were not able to gather in our traditional way, John did not forget about this great cause. He collected donations from members of our community throughout the month of October, totaling $4300. Thank you to all who donated so generously, especially during this difficult time. In addition, as he does each year, John Gately personally matched those donations and presented a second check in that amount to the Veterans’ Relief Fund! John’s generosity and commitment to those who serve our country is truly inspiring. On behalf of veterans everywhere, we are immensely grateful to John and all those who contributed.
