It’s hard to imagine living in social isolation every single day. For our aging population, it’s been a long-term reality. The effects of loneliness on our older loved ones can be detrimental, making it essential – now more than ever – to reach out and connect. And the pandemic has made it even harder.
Home Instead Senior Care Melrose uses the homecare tablet to help seniors safely and securely communicate and interact in a variety of ways. It is used in Integrated Care to enhance the care provided to a client as well as help the CAREGiver and office communicate. We use this home care tablet, which was created specifically for seniors, with large buttons and safety features like the closed family network, wireless charging and a one-touch connection to the franchise office and Member Experience.

Home Instead Senior Care Melrose uses enough GrandPads, for all their clients to stay connected.
Caregivers use it to log in during their visits, and they also can use it to send pictures or videos or address potential issues with nurses, who then can consult with a physician.

“It does a lot more than just the video calls,” Bill Mishkin, Owner of Home Instead Senior Care Melrose said, who described it as everything senior citizens need for them to do voice and text messages.
Sheila Driscoll, talks about how she has used it with her Aunt Polly who just celebrated her 100th birthday. “The Grandpad device is wonderful.
We use the Grandpad video call feature at least 2x a week.
It is a perfect option for both of us as I live in another state and am only able to visit every other week. The quality of our faces on the Grandpad screen is very clear and there is minimal to no delay in audio. As my Aunt says "almost as good as a face-to-face visit ".
Since receiving the Grandpad, Polly has enjoyed the photo option and with assistance often flips back through early postings to reminisce about family members and special events. Polly is blessed with many nieces and nephews including 5 great, great nieces/nephews and their fun photos keeps Polly "young".
A national survey Home Instead conducted of its clients found that 29% of the seniors developed a deeper connection with their loved ones, despite the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
Another 57% say they talk more frequently through the device, and were 72% plan to use it frequently after the pandemic.
