Information Session on Affordable Housing Set for May 1

The city of Melrose will be having an information session on the Affordable Housing Lottery for the 99 Essex St. apartments at 7:30 p.m. May 1 at City Hall in the Aldermanic Chamber, according to a press statement.
A pair of rental units will be available in the lottery of the "15 newly constructed apartment units resulting from the conversion of the former Unitarian Universalist Church into a residential use," according to an informational brochure.
Among the amenities are off-street parking (one space for the one-bedroom unit and two spaces for the two-bedroom unit), storage located on the first floor, and the following appliances: stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, washer and dryer, according to the brochure. The common hallways are carpeted and the units have hardwood flooring, reads the brochure. The kitchens are equipped with custom cabinetry and granite countertops, reads the brochure.

The units are also handicapped adaptable, according to the application.

- 641 sq. ft. one-bedroom apartment for $1,247 per month
- 950 sf. ft. two-bedroom apartment for $1,381

The lottery is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. June 13 at City Hall in the Aldermanic Chamber.
