John Doherty, Melrose DPW Official, Dies

MELROSE, MA — John Doherty, the Division Foreman for Parks and Forestry in the Melrose DPW, has died.

"A Melrose resident, John was dependable and strongly committed to his job. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and an all-around super guy," a post announcing his passing said on the City of Melrose site.

Alderman John Tramontozzi said on his Facebook page Doherty "suffered a tragic accident."

Doherty's fingerprint can be seen around the city: on the parks, fields, grass, flags, and beyond, according to the city website
