Lime Putting Brakes On Bikes In Melrose
The love'em-or-hate'em bikes are pulling out of Greater Boston, but Lime hopes to stick around in another way.

MELROSE, MA — Lime is pulling its bikes out of Greater Boston. The company told the Metropolitan Area Planning Council it will not renew its contract for the area for 2020.
The bike-share has been around for more than a year — travelers could find and unlock Lime bikes with their phone and get charged as they rode. Many found it helpful to get around town or to Oak Grove, but the way riders would discard bikes in the middle of sidewalks frustrated some.
Lime still wants to stick around the area with e-scooters. A scooter pilot program took place in Brookline last year.
