2. This day in Melrose history: This is not how I’d want to be remembered in the history books - Melrose resident John C. Sheehan is arrested in Portland, Maine and sentenced to 90 days in jail after stealing five pairs of overalls from a store on July 30, 1942.

“I was drinking, Your Honor,” Sheehan reportedly told the judge. “I don’t know what I would do with five pairs of overalls.”
3. Melrose athlete competes in Royal Regatta: Congrats to Melrose resident and BC High School 2013 graduate James Eisenberg, who competed in the British Henley Royal Regatta this month.

4. Fundraiser for the Melrose Dog Park: The Melrose Dog Society will hold the fun ceremony from 7 p.m. to midnight Tuesday, in which volunteers will act as guest bartenders to raise money for the park - don't forget to try the "Dog Days Sangria!"
