Melrose Bank Robbed By Man In Surgical Mask: Police

Authorities said the man told a Santander Bank teller to fill a brown paper bag with cash Saturday morning.

MELROSE, MA — Police are investigating a Saturday morning bank robbery on Main Street.

Chief Michael Lyle said the Santander Bank was robbed about 9 a.m. Police said a man passed a note to the teller demanding the teller put money in a brown paper CVS bag. He took off northbound on Main Street with cash.

The suspect, caught on camera, is described as a white man between 45-50 years old with a gray zip-up hooded sweatshirt, gray pants and a knit cap. He also had a blue surgical-style mask and black glasses with what appear to be rhinestones on the front.

The man never showed a weapon and no one was injured.
