Melrose COVID Numbers Plunging, Positive Rate Under 3 Percent

MELROSE, MA — The city saw one of its most encouraging coronavirus reports to date Thursday as Melrose's coronavirus numbers continue their substantial freefall.

Melrose still saw 100 COVID-19 cases the past two weeks, far more than during the summer lows. There have been 1,597 confirmed cases in the city since the start of the pandemic.

But the average daily incidence rate per 100,000 plunged to 24.7, while the positive test rate dove well below 3 percent, falling to 2.4 percent.

The city will continue its vaccination efforts next week. There will be a vaccination clinic for people 75 and older at Memorial Hall on Wednesday, Feb. 17, from 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Appointments are required. See more information here.
