Melrose Farmers Market Readies For 2021 Season

MELROSE, MA — The Melrose Farmers Market is about a month away from kicking off its 2021 season — one vendors and customers alike hope is more stable as the pandemic's grip on Massachusetts weakens.

Things will look a bit new this year, starting with new Market Manager Ani Breay. There are also new hours: 1-6 p.m.

The Market will still be at Bowden Park. Its first day is June 3 and will run every Thursday.

There will be live music, provided by grants from the Melrose Cultural Council.

Expect artisans and new food specialty vendors, as well as most of the familiar faces.

The Market will still offer its $10 SNAP match at the main table. Some vendors, like Moonlight Fram, Oakdale Farms, and Dick's Market Gardens, will be accepting HIP.

Breay said she is also working to secure other programs for the Market.

The Farmers Market recently received a $10,000 donation from Garden Remedies.

Mayor Paul Brodeur has filed an ordinance that would allow alcohol to be sold at Bowden Park, including by vendors at the Farmers Market. The ordinance has been stuck in the city's legislative body and faces an uncertain future.
