Melrose Fire Pulls Child, Dog Out Of Near 100 Degree Car

The incident occurred a bit before 6 p.m. on Cottage Street on Saturday.

In this instance, you can’t blame the mother for what appears to have been an honest mistake. But dogs and children locked in cars during the summer make everyone nervous.

WBZ Channel 4 reports that on Saturday, the Melrose Fire Department was called in to help a 2-year-old boy and a dog escape a car parked on Cottage Street, wherein the temperature is said to have reached almost 100 degrees.

It appears the child inadvertently tapped the “lock” button inside the vehicle while the keys were still in the car. The child’s mother tried to explain to him how to unlock the car, but unfortunately his toddler intellect wasn’t developed enough to figure out how keys work.
