MELROSE, MA — The city continues to struggle mightily to contain the coronavirus, which hit 1,000 reported cases before Christmas.

The state's weekly coronavirus report released on Thursday still had Melrose firmly in the red, showing 1,000 total cases since the start of the pandemic.

The average daily incidence rate per 100,000 residents is at 53.7 while the positive test rate is at 5.06 percent.
