Melrose Police Station Gets New Technology Upgrades

The Melrose Information Technology Department has installed new equipment at the Melrose Police Station.

The following was submitted by the City of Melrose:

Melrose, MA May 5th 2021 — The Melrose Information Technology Department has installed new equipment at the Melrose Police Station. Among those upgrades is a new assistance/emergency call box station has been installed in front of the station at 56 West Foster Street that includes a blue light for visibility and an illuminated panel at an accessible height. This project was a combined effort of I.T., the Melrose Police Department and the Department of Public Works.

Melrose I.T. also replaced all of the exterior cameras at the Police Station with new units, improving quality, coverage and visibility.

All telephones at the Police Station were replaced with newer units connected to the new city-wide system enabling, among other things, 4-digit dialing to anywhere in the city, and a failover system. The new system will also reduce the cost of voice communications.

“Some of these changes are long overdue,” said Mayor Brodeur. “City departments worked together to provide these upgrades in order to better serve our residents.”
