Melrose Public Schools Keeping Masks Through School Year

The district said it will re-evaluate the policy over the summer.

MELROSE, MA — Melrose Public Schools will require masks through the end of the school year, the district announced in a newsletter sent Monday morning — hours before the governor said the state will lift its mask mandate in most places, but not schools.

"There will be no change in our mask-wearing requirements during the school day and after-school activities," the newsletter said. "In the Melrose Public Schools, all students and staff will continue to wear masks throughout the school day through June 18, 2021."

The district said it would re-evaluate over the summer.
