"The trend regarding COVID spread in Melrose and across Massachusetts is not good," Mayor Paul Brodeur said in a video. "If we are going to protect our community and keep our schools and businesses open, we need to follow the rules: wear face coverings, maintain social distance, practice good hygiene, avoid large gatherings, and stay home if you have any symptoms. Finally, cooperate with contact tracers. Answer the call and be completely candid with the caller. We all want to get back to what it was like before the pandemic, and this is the fastest and safest way to get there."
