Melrosian Charged With Shoplifting at Shaw's Supermarket
At 9:05 a.m. Nov. 7, Melrose Police responded to Shaw's Supermarket on Essex Street for a report of shoplifting. Robin Vargas, of 85 West Wyoming Ave., Melrose, was arrested and charged with shoplifting over $100 by asportation.
Nov. 8
8:18 a.m.: Washington Street, report of a car on fire. Fire Department responded.
1:27 p.m.: A worker from Hopkins Street visited the police station reported a past assault.
5:40 p.m.: Bartlett Street, report of a water main break. DPW responded.
7:31 p.m.: Franklin Street at Belmont Street, report of a Lincoln Town Car hitting a MBTA bus from behind.

10:18 a.m.: Porter Street, report of an accident.
Nov. 6
1:58 a.m.: Main Street at Bay State Road, report of an accident. A person was expected to be summonsed on charges of leaving the scene of an accident, leaving the scene of property damage and negligent operation of a vehicle.
8:21 a.m.: Vinton Street, caller reported that they hit a cat with their vehicle. The caller reportedly found the cat's owner who planned to take the injured pet to a vet. The Health Department was notified.
2:12 p.m.: Vinton Street at West Wyoming Avenue, crossing guard reported a vehicle struck a cat. The cat's owner was notified and moved the animal, and the Health Department was notified.
3:45 p.m.: Walgreens parking lot on Main Street, report of past hit-and-run accident in the area.
5:21 p.m.: There was a warrant arrest in Lynn, as Brian Scarafone, of 39 Willow St., Melrose, was arrested of five warrants. He was transported to Melrose Police Department.
6:51 p.m.: Kenison Road, report of a past breaking and entering.
8:09 p.m.: Highview Avenue, report of a dog that bit another dog.
Nov. 5
7:55 a.m.: Myrtle Street, report of an accident.
11:55 a.m.: Glendower Road, report of a brush fire behind the Hoover Elementary School.
12:47 p.m.: Heavenly Licks on West Wyoming Avenue, report of a stolen bike.
1:53 p.m.: Mount Vernon Avenue, report of stolen cell phone.
8:56 p.m.: Main Street at Lynn Fells Parkway, report of an accident. State Police notified.
Nov. 4
9:47 p.m.: Ro's Auto Sales on Newburyport Turnpike, report of two males wearing all black clothing and hoodies acting suspiciously around vehicles. Police reported 40 tires were damaged.
