The Orange Line is back up and running after a "medical emergency" caused the MBTA to suspend down train service between Sullivan Square and Tufts Medical Center Monday morning into the afternoon. The last-second extension of the weekend closure left commuters scrambling to make up time.

The MBTA said at 2:23 p.m. service had resumed. The diversion was "due to an incident involving 2 contractor vehicles and an injured worker" and is investigating. The MBTA told The Boston Globe the worker's injury was minor and, of course, the transit company is sorry.

Shuttle buses were available between Sullivan and Haymarket.
