The Week Ahead: Kindergarten Playdate, Small Business Forum, Y's Fall Preview

Events and meetings taking place this week in Melrose.

Here's some of what's happening in Melrose this week:

  • The Lincoln Elementary School will host a Kindergarten Playdate on the Lincoln Playground on Monday, Aug. 23, from 10 a.m. to noon.

  • Rep. Katherine Clark, D-Melrose, will be hosting a Small Business forum on "The Economy, Capital Issues and Real Solutions" from 7:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m. Thursday, August 26.

  • The Melrose Y will hold a fall sneak preview on Friday, Aug. 27 from 6-8pm, offering demonstrations of the new classes being offered in the upcoming Fall Session.

    The Melrose School Committee will meet on Tuesday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m.; public dialogue with the committee starts at 6:15 p.m. The items on the agenda are:

    The Melrose Zoning Board of Appeals will meet on Wednesday, Aug. 25 at 7:45 p.m. Items on the agenda are:

    • The appeal of Carla A. Gill to operate a home-based child care business at 85 Morgan St.
    • The appeal of Dr. Steven Senneville for a variance related to off-street parking requirements and a Special Permit for medical office use, to operate a medical practice at 533-541 Franklin St.
    • The appeal of Constantine G. Scrivanos for a variance to add a drive-through window to the existing Dunkin Donuts restaurant at 470 Lynn Fells Parkway.
    • The appeal of Michael A. Devita, Jr., for a variance to install a utility shed at 445 Upham St.
