Water Flushing Underway in Melrose
Check here to see which day your home will face a temporary lapse in water service.

It's that time of year again!
The good news is that Melrose's biannual Water Flushing Program is aimed at regularly cleaning out sentiment and securing adequate pressure for the city's water system.
The bad news? It will cause temporary disruptions in service on a street-by-street basis from now through September.
You can check your street's scheduled flushing at the city website. The page will be updated "no later than 6 p.m." everyday with updated information about completed streets and the next day's schedule.
The city also recommends the following tips to keep this year's flush a pleasant one:
- Do not use your water when we are flushing or testing on your street. If you do, sediment could get into your house pipes which could cause them to block, reduce pressure and/or cause discoloration in your water quality. This situation could be expensive for you to repair. If you experience a problem, please contact the Public Works Department for assistance.
- You may experience rusty or cloudy water from the testing. Once the work is completed, run the cold water until it is clear. Do not run the hot water, do not do laundry, do not use your dishwasher, and do not add water to your pool until your cold water runs clean.
- We advise all residents to draw water prior to their street flushing by filling a number of pots or water bottles for use between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.
- Call the Public Works office at 781-665-0142 between 7:00 am–4:00 pm if you have a special medical situation we should be aware of.
