In police and fire news, over 200 EMTs across the state — including some who work for Cataldo Ambulance, which serves Melrose — face suspensions due to falsified training re-certifications. A registered sex offender was arrested at the Melrose Public Library on a default warrant out of Boston, and all eight Melrose establishments targeted in an undercover alcohol compliance check passed the test. Also, a grant will allow the Melrose Police Department to expand the domestic violence officers' position from part-time to full-time; and Melrose Patch had its weekly police log round up.
