Weekend Agenda: Ballet, A "Pretty Things" Tasting and More

A look at what's coming up for the weekend in and around Melrose.

  • “Alice in Wonderland” youth ballet: It’s a bit out of the way, but if you feel like taking in some cultcha - the Melrose Youth Ballet will perform “Alice in Wonderland” at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4 at Merrimack College.

  • Free community concert: The members of the Choir of St. Mary's Parish, Maldon, England - Malden’s sister city - will perform a free concert for the people of Malden and surrounding communities at 7:30 p.m. Friday night at St. Paul’s Episcopal Parish.

  • Jimmy Fund softball/wiffleball tournament: Kids and adults are welcome to this annual family event starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3 at Melrose’s Pine Banks Park. Come for the tournament or just the sweet eats, offered by local restaurants.

  • Vegetable garden tour: The Winchester Farmers Market will be taking a tour of local vegetable gardens from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4.

  • “Pretty Things” tasting: One of the hottest new beers on the market, the Pretty Things label will hold a tasting from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3 at the the Craft Beer Cellar New England annex in Winchester.

  • What's at the movies? You can always check movie times in local theaters on Melrose Patch.
